"Great Program, used it for years, but..."

Best free graphics program I have ever used, but after microsoft issued the January 2010 patches it now freezes and my computer diagnoses now says it is not compatible with Windows 7. I was using version 6.4. This happened on 3 computers. Anyone know of a workaround.
