This is an outstanding free program. I use it with upper elementary school children to create Andy Warhol pop art in our computer lab. We print our work on photo paper and the results are awesome and the kids, teachers and parents love it. This program has plugins to extend it's functionality and we use the arithmetic plugin for the Andy Warhol project. While the free version of Photofiltre is excellent, the shareware version gives some extra effects that are even more fun. If you are a computer teacher or an art teacher with computer art lessons in your bag of tricks, you should try this. Download the free version, go to the photofiltre site and follow a few of their tutorials. Easy stuff. You can google "K-5 computer lab" or go to oakdome.com/k5 to see my tutorial for kids to do the Warhol project. Comes out much better than just pushing the button of photobooth on a Mac. Has some features that are missing in Paint.NET, like spraypaint can and smudge.

Pros
  • FREE and loaded with features.
Cons
  • Free version is missing layers.
